The Madrid International Piano Competition is pleased to unveil the exceptional pianists who have been selected to compete in the semi-final round. After a rigorous pre-selection process, which drew 181 participants from 34 different countries, the distinguished jury has identified the most qualified talents to advance to the next stage of this prestigious event.
The pre-selection jury panel, composed of internationally renowned pianists Pascal Nemirovski, Michal Tal, Mario Mora, Daniel Lebhardt, and Louis Schwizgebel, meticulously evaluated the submissions and faced the challenging task of choosing the semi-finalists. Their expertise and discerning judgment ensured that only the most exceptional performers would progress further in the competition.
Considering the very high level of the candidatesc coming from 34 different countries (Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK, Ukraine, USA) who participated in Categories A & B of the international competition in Madrid, the general and artistic direction, along with all members of the jury, have decided to add a waiting list and award 35 "Honorary Awards", including the waiting list, for Category B.
The Madrid International Piano Competition proudly presents the following 15 pianists who have been selected to participate in the semi-final round of Category b (16 to 28 years old), to happen in Madrid next September 21st, 2023, in aphabetical order:

These remarkable pianists have demonstrated outstanding technical skill, artistic interpretation, and musical sensitivity, distinguishing themselves from a highly talented pool of participants. Their selection for the semi-final round is a testament to their exceptional talent and dedication to their craft.
The semi-final round of the Madrid International Piano Competition 2023 will take place in Madrid on September 21st, 2023. The esteemed jury, comprising internationally acclaimed professionals such as Akiko Ebi, Emma Bloxham, Sa Chen, Josu De Solaun, Louis Schwizgebel, Michal Tal, Pascal Nemirovski, Pierig Escher and Tamás Ungar, will evaluate the performances and determine the finalists who will progress to the highly anticipated final round.
All competitors selected to pass round will be contacted personally in order to organize their travel to Madrid, as well as providing them with the means necessary to be granted with a visa for travelling to Spain.
